Good questions.
Plain answers.
You shouldn’t need a glossary to understand a website monitor.
Here’s what Patrolo does, what it needs from you and what it doesn’t promise.
What does Patrolo actually do?
Patrolo watches for signs that people are getting stuck on your website. When something looks wrong, it can ask the visitor what happened. Their reply goes into your Patrolo inbox, with the page it came from. You can also set email alerts for repeated reports.
What is a Shout?
A Shout is a visitor’s reply to “Is anything wrong with this page?” It might be “The checkout button isn’t working” or “I can’t send this form.” It gives you the visitor’s own explanation, rather than leaving you to guess.
Do I need to know how to code?
You need to add a small piece of code to your website once. Many website builders have a custom-code area where you can paste it. You can also ask your developer or AI coding tool to add it. After that, you manage Patrolo in a normal dashboard.
Will it work with my website builder?
Patrolo works on websites where you can add its JavaScript snippet to the pages you want to monitor. Check whether your builder or hosting plan allows custom code. If someone built your site for you, they can usually tell you where to put it.
What do you mean by real-time monitoring?
Patrolo receives signals as people use your website and collects Shouts when they submit them. Email alerts depend on the rules you choose, such as three visitors reporting a problem on the same page within an hour. Delivery also depends on network and email services.
Will it spot every problem?
No. Patrolo needs people to visit your site, and it relies on the activity it can see and the feedback they choose to send. It does not automatically test every page, place test orders or check a website while nobody is visiting. It helps uncover problems; it cannot promise to catch everything.
Will it bother my visitors?
The question appears when the activity you’ve chosen suggests someone may be having trouble. Visitors can dismiss it. You control which types of activity trigger a question and how long to wait between prompts.
How do email alerts work?
On Growth and Scale, you can choose how many visitors need to report a problem on a page, and over what period, before Patrolo sends an email to your verified account address. Shouts also stay in your dashboard so you can review them and mark issues resolved.
What information does Patrolo collect?
Page paths, anonymous session identifiers, interaction signals and the feedback visitors choose to send. It does not record keystrokes, read form values or make session recordings. Visitors can still put personal information in a Shout, so avoid asking for sensitive details and include Patrolo in your website’s privacy and consent information where needed.
Can I try it for free?
Yes. Starter includes one website, monitoring and a Shout inbox with 25 Shouts per calendar month. No credit card is needed. Growth gives you up to five websites, 500 monthly Shouts and email alert rules.
What happens when I reach my Shout limit?
Your existing Shouts stay available to review. Further Shouts are not accepted once you reach your account’s monthly allowance. The allowance resets at the start of the next calendar month, or you can choose a larger plan.
Does Patrolo fix the problem for me?
Patrolo helps you find and understand it. You can then make the change yourself, pass the details to your developer or use the visitor’s description to help your AI coding tool investigate. Patrolo does not edit your website.
